Why We Built This Site
Florida keeps most jail and inmate information open to the public. That is the good news. The hard part is figuring out which agency is holding the person you want. The records exist. They just sit in different systems that do not talk to each other.
Here is the plain version. The Clay County Sheriff's Office runs the local jail roster. That roster covers people held before trial and those serving short county sentences. Once someone is sentenced to state prison, they leave that roster and appear in the Florida Department of Corrections locator instead. Federal prisoners and immigration detainees turn up in yet another set of systems run by the federal government. Three different paths, three different places to search.
Most people learn this the slow way. They search one tool, find nothing, and assume the worst. We gathered the rosters, the statewide and federal locators, the office phone numbers, the visitation details, and the steps for filing a records request, then put them in one place. The goal is simple. You should be able to start here and know exactly where to go next.

Only the sheriff's office or the corrections department can confirm whether someone is in custody, what they are charged with, or when they may be released. We can point you to the right roster, but the official answer always comes from them.
